Emerging Leaders Program

The Indiana Counseling Association Emerging Leaders Program is an annual professional development initiative designed to cultivate leadership capacity among counseling graduate students and new professionals across Indiana.

This program intentionally connects emerging counselors with experienced leaders in the field to support professional identity development, mentorship, advocacy engagement, and leadership skill-building.

Program Purpose

The Emerging Leaders Program exists to:

• Strengthen the future leadership of the counseling profession in Indiana

• Provide structured mentorship and professional guidance

• Increase engagement with advocacy, professional service, and association leadership

• Support career development for counselors early in their professional journey

Program Structure

Participants are selected to serve in the program for a defined annual term.

Mentees

Emerging Leaders (mentees) receive:

• Individualized mentorship from experienced counseling professionals

• Exposure to INCA leadership, committees, and advocacy initiatives

• Opportunities to develop leadership skills through active engagement

• Professional networking with counselors across specialties and settings

Mentors

Mentors contribute by:

• Providing guidance, encouragement, and professional insight

• Supporting leadership development and professional growth

• Strengthening the counseling profession through service and mentorship

Eligibility

The Emerging Leaders Program is open to:

• Counseling graduate students

• New counseling professionals early in their careers

Applicants must demonstrate interest in professional involvement, leadership development, and service to the counseling community.

Applications are accepted annually.

Recognition

Emerging Leaders receive:

• Formal recognition for their service

• Professional development experience that supports leadership growth

• Opportunities to build long-term professional relationships within INCA
