Is THAT really necessary?
Ray Watson, PhD, LMHC

- Gain pragmatic insights to Relational & Circumstantial Dynamics affecting Behavioral Responses
- Gain a clinical view of the "necessity" of some behaviors as distinguished from justification or excuse making
- Improve treatment considerations to extinguish unwanted behavior by virtue of making those patterns of behavior "unnecessary"

Presenter:  Dr Ray Watson, Core Faculty at Capella University, has over 40,000 hours of clinical experience treating a wide range of behavioral conditions as well as mood disorders.  He is the published author "Putting Power in Your Perceptions", the former producer and host of the "Off the Couch with Dr Ray" syndicated radio shown over 350 stations across that US and has over 1,000 professional presentations to his credit.  In addition to his teaching

Helena Stevens, PhD, LPC, LSC, PPS

Mindfulness is a hot buzz word these days both within counseling and outside of counseling. Mindfulness is often understood to be a breathing technique, yoga position, or simply a way to think. However, it is much more than a technique and is a theoretical approach that can be highly effective for treatment outcomes across all spectrums of problems and disorders. From understanding problem formation to approaching problem solution, this presentation will provide content and tools on how to practice with a mindfulness lens and approach.
