A Culturally Responsive Scripture Based Healing Model for Adults in Nicaragua

Nicaragua is a land rich in culture, history, and natural resources. Yet approximately 75% of the Nicaraguan population lives in poverty (Political Risk Services, 2010). Moreover, high theft rates, widespread violence towards women (Salazar, Hogberg, Valladares, and Öman, 2012), and an underdeveloped national police force results in exposure to critical challenges and serious stressors. In an effort to develop culturally responsive cross cultural communication and application skills and use spiritual and religious understandings that are consistent with one communities spiritual and religious perspectives, this study involves an examination of a Scripture-based trauma healing model in the resource-poor country of Nicaragua.
